brand new old candlesticks

When I saw these wooden candlesticks at the thrift store they were an icky 80's blue. With a little can of red spray paint my sweetheart fixed them up for me. Now I'm loving how the shiny candy apple red looks against my orange Ikea candles.

{Thanks for the great idea O!Rachew!}

You may also be wondering what new project I am working on that involves red and white fabric with blue trim ... you'll just have to wait and see :)

inspired by cookies — shop update

Remember wafer cookies? When I was a kid they were one of my favorite treats with all of their strawberry, vanilla and chocolaty goodness.

{image from parade.com}

I came across them the other day at the grocery store and decided to design some gift tags inspired by this delicious little treat.

These tags come in red and orange because I am really crushing on that color combination right now ... besides I think wafer cookies would be positively delightful in the flavor orange don't you?

pretty picnic packaging

My Better Homes and Gardens magazine came in the mail yesterday. I instantly fell in love with the sweet little yellow melamine tiffin box that was featured as one of the "things to do this month." Sadly, it's no longer available for purchase at Crate and Barrel, sniff sniff, and I could not find it anywhere else online. If by chance you happen upon it please leave a note in the comments section.

But don't worry, while searching I did find a wonderful selection of these stackable containers that may tickle your fancy. I also thought you would enjoy these ... well ... lunchboxes that caught my eye during the hunt for the illusive yellow tiffin.

1. Vivo Oval Bento Box, Amazon.com— also available in other lovely shapes and color like this, this or this.
2. Hostess Cupcake Lunchbox, Jessica's Bizarre Gifts via Amazon.com

3. Classic Plaid Lunchbox, Target
4. Pirate Dome Lunchbox, Archie McPhee

So enjoy a picnic in style or use these fancy containers to hold other types of goodies like art or sewing supplies. My gocco paints are aching to live inside #3. :)

I love finding bargains like this or these ... and I love shoes. I probably looked pretty silly dangling myself over the side of Walmart's clearance bin ... but after digging down to the very bottom I finally found these in my size! Did I mention that they were only 3 bucks? Score!

Mindy Mae's Market

Last week I went with my mom to Mindy Mae's Market and came away with this sweet hairpin by Vintage Fern. Gosh ... I have a weakness for these things don't I.

Amy carries a huge variety of items in her shop including purses, dish towels, cards and this cute little pillowcase dress. Hmm ... I don't remember if I've told you this but I also have a huge weakness for pillowcase dresses. If I had a little girl I would surely go into tons of dept purchasing dozens of these. Luckly for now my wallet is safe :)

Who else was at the market? Here are just a few of my favorites:
Ritzy Misfit — super cute necklaces. Something tells me I need this one.
Made by Matchgirl — I can't help but drool over this book.
Bugs 'n' Bees Boutique — Eeek! More adorable pillowcase dresses!

printable sunny day notepad

Happy Monday everyone. To start the week off let me introduce you to a new printable I have been working on for my shop. It's a notepad! Yippee. I love notepads ... probably because I have a habit of writing down millions of little lists, reminder notes to myself, or any new idea for a new design that may pop into my head.

You can check out my shop for more images of this handy dandy little notepad. Did I mention the backing is turquoise and white stripes? I'm a sucker for stripes!

Be sure to check back later this week to find out what I bought at Mindy Mae's Market last Friday :)

christmas in june

I have had a bookstore gift card burning a hole in my pocket for quite some time now ... it was actually a Christmas gift from my husband.

{How to Make Books by Ester K. Smith}

I finally decided on this book. I can't wait to apply some of these techniques into my shop's printables. For example ... like this.

My husband thinks it would be funny if the binding on this book gave out ... hmmmm. To get a closer look at the table of contents click here and here.
