Taking Time Out

My little boy LOVES to be outside. Whenever he is unhappy all I have to do is hold him up by a window and he usually calms down. I saw these Halloween window clings in Targets dollar section and just knew he would get a kick out of them.

(Pudgy fingers enjoying new textures ... especially these squishy spiders.)

So here is a reminder to take time out to explore—my little guy reminds me of this daily :)

Seeing EVEN MORE Spots

Ok ... in my last post you learned of my deep love for polka dots ... and because I can't seem to get enough of them I though it would be only fitting to spotlight some very talented Etsy artists who just happen to use dots in their work.

So may I introduce to you:
1. Candy Shop Journaling Tags by Elle's Studio.
2. Spotted Ruby Red Flower Earrings by Simply Betty.
3. Mini Frame Pouch - polka dots on blue with red velvet ribbon and button by Oktak.

Seeing Spots

I love patterns ... especially the classic polka dot. Knowing this I bet you can probably guess which page from Domino's October issue is my favorite.

(Editors Cravings: Polka Dots, October issue of Domino, page 32)

In this issue Style Editor Kim Ficaro shares many examples of delightful dots but here are just two of my favorites.
1. Cotton-canvas "Oompa" $90/yard by Studio Bon Textiles.
2. "Sag Harbor Dot" salad plate $17 cup $13 by Kate Spade.

You can view all of Kim's charming picks here.

Etsy Seller—Summersville

You may already be familiar with lusummers, a superb Etsy shop for finding all sorts of mixed media goodies. Recently Lucie Summers opened Summersville, her second shop, and it's already a huge success. Congrats Lucie!

I love the sketchy quality of her unique organic patterns ... not to mention the playful photographic style she uses to show off her work.

Lucie's fabric can be used for your own sewing projects or check out her other lovely creations such as zipper pouches, buttons and notebook covers that are just waiting to be purchased.

A Simply Brilliant Idea

I have never been one to keep a fancy journal ... or sketchbook. My sketchbook consists of little notes and illustrations on scraps of paper that I later compile together in a 3 ring binder with scotch tape. My husband teases me about my habit by saying that I always have some sort of trick up my sleeve ... or in my pocket.

(Magical Thinking Jar by Inchmark)

When I saw this idea by Inchmark via Sarah Jane I fell in love. Go check it out :)

Perfect Time To Plant

Perennials are on sale at my local nursery so I stopped by to pick up a few for my front yard. There is not a lot of room for variety since my flower beds are pretty shallow so I decided to stick with a simple yellow/orange color scheme.

I finally settled on these:
Gloriosa Daisy 'Rustic Colors'
Goldenrod 'Baby Gold'
White Coneflower

Etsy Seller—Mimipea

Monika over at Mimipea has some seriously cute designs available in her shop. This embroidered bag immediately caught my fancy with its cute little woodland creature perched on the front flap.

Good luck to this talented Etsy Mom and her new shop.
